Season in Brief

After three seasons when promotion was within reach this was a campaign that started well, despite the loss of Charlie Wayman, who moved to Preston North End. Eddie Brown replaced Wayman and the club were top of the table going into Christmas.

That proved to be the season's peak and a nine match run without a win started on Boxing Day. Only three wins from the final 19 matches meant the Saints slumped to 12th.
