Season in Brief

Ted Bates' progress towards the manager's chair continued as he became coach of the Reserves. Peter Sillett left for Chelsea but there were no significant signings as the club settled down to life in the third tier, which they has left in 1922.

In a league from which only the champions would be promoted, the closest the Saints came was a spell in second place between November and February. Once again Eric Day was ever-present and his 26 goals were a highlight.
