Season in Brief

Joe Jordan, who had made his debut for Leeds United at The Dell 13 years previously, replaced Frank Worthington as centre-forward and led the front line well. Steve Williams left in December to join Arsenal. In March Jimmy Case signed from Brighton.

Once again the Saints defensive record was good and a top five finish meant a European place was secured, although the tragic events at the European Cup Final in Heysel Stadium  would prevent the club from participating in 1985-86.
