Season in Brief

The main summer transfers saw Andy Townsend and Kevin Bond depart with Russell Osman and Paul Rideout coming in. Chris Nicholl was seen by many as lacking the ability to bring glamour players to the club so the new signings went some way to answering that criticism.

A perfect start saw the Saints top of the league after three matches. The three Wallace brothers played together in the first team for the first time. A mid-season slide was arrested with the signings of Neil Ruddock, Barry Horne and Mickey Adams.
